| Miss World Library Donates Books To Gdynia |
|
| Students from the Gydnia region enjoyed special lessons today (Friday), when the Miss World 2006 contestants toured local schools to inaugurate the Miss World International Library.
Each contestant brought a book describing a favourite element of their home country, and the books will be collected together to form a world library for use by children and young people in Gdynia

| Nobel Laureate Lech Walesa Meets Miss World |
|
| Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Poland Lech Walesa welcomed the entire party of Miss World 2006 to a place of great personal and international importance: the Gdansk Shipyards, which saw so much strife and sacrifice in the 80s.
The contestants laid flowers at the monument to those who gave their lives in the name of peace and unity under the banner of the Solidarity union movement, before receiving a personal audience with Mr Walesa inside one of the former dock buildings

| Gdynia Hospital Visit |

| Smiles and happiness were just the tonic for some sick children when Miss World 2005 Unnur Birna fronted a visit by contestants to Gdynia Hospital.
Girls from the Asia Pacific continental group called at the hospital to deliver gifts of toys, a music system and computer equipment, and enjoyed an hour meeting the young patients, their parents and staff

| Definitely the most action packed day so far for the Miss World beauties with every continent having their chance to try out the plethora of outdoor activities available at the Camp here in Gizycko.
With various different boats out on the lake including speedy catamarans the Miss World contestants chose to sail in a more relaxed manner with three girls per boat going at leisurely speeds.

| Miss World Sportswoman Finals |

| The finalists of the Miss World Sportswomen took place this afternoon in front of huge crowds of more than 800 local children and over 50 international press. The anticipation and excitement in the crowd was fever pitched as the girls warmed up for the first event.
The girls, kitted out in the Miss World sports wear, looked ready to take each other on for the coveted fast track place to the final in Warsaw.

| Galindia Invasion |

| Marauders landed in the northern Poland resort of Gizycko on Tuesday, as 104 Miss World contestants looked on in an impressive re-enactment of similar assaults on regional Galindian communities.
The artistic display by enthusiasts from the Mazurian region, was the sunset finale to a three-day visit to the lakeland town on Gizycko. Contestants sat through a play about life in a local village under attack from the sea, before several girls rode a striking black stallion around the grassy banks of Gizycko.

| Croatia Wins Miss World Designer Award 2006 |

| The UNESCO World Heritage Site, Wieliczka salt mines near Krakow formed the spectacular background to this year’s Miss World designer award. Contestants competed for this prestigious award showing off creations from up-an-coming as well as established fashion designers to celebrate the beauty of women from around the world.
This year standards were particular high, making it particularly challenging for the judging panel to pick the dress that in their eyes most epitomises today’s high fashion.

| Rafting down Dunajec River |

| Some girls from Northern and Southern Europe had a real treat with the most famous of Polish river tours down the Dunajec River.
The girls travelled by coach for more than two hours from Kakowice to the mountains and were rewarded for their long journey. The weather was perfect as they prepared to board the rafts with their expert river guides. As the two rafts left the shore, crowds gathered to wave them off. The river guides in traditional mountain costume pedalled out and they began their cruise.

| Brother Albert Foundation |

| While visiting Krakow, Miss World took the 2006 contestants on a detour to Radwanowice where they met the people of the Brother Albert Foundation.
The girls received the most warming welcome from its residents, actress Anna Dymna priest Tadeusz Roztock, care takers and village people as the coaches arrived in the idyllic settings of the ‘Brata Alberta’ care home.

| Miss World Visits Krakow |

| The contestants from Miss World were welcomed in Krakow this morning by a fanfare of trumpets and an official welcome by the President of the City. Each girl was greeted by a city guardsman and given an escort of honour to Krakow old town. Dressed in truly magnificent uniforms of black and pink with amazing headdresses, the guardsmen gave the girls a tour they will never forget. A marching band led the way round the stunning square to Mariacki Cathedral in front of an admiring crowd.
