| Miss World Contestants Arrive in Warsaw |
|
| More than 100 beautiful young girls arrived in Warsaw, today, for the commencement of Miss World 2006. Sunshine chased away the rain clouds to provide a glorious backdrop to the arrival of the contestants at the city’s Okacie airport. The world’s media and Miss World fans flocked to the arrivals hall as flight after flight brought contestants from around the globe for the start of the four-week spectacular that will take in the sites of Poland.

| Anniversary World War II (…) |

| While clouds gathered over Warsaw, a select delegation of Miss World contestants together with Mrs Julia Morley, Chairman of the Miss World Organisation and Tadeusz Deszkiewicz, Promotions Director of Warsaw, visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Warsaw to commemorate the anniversary of the start of World War II on 1 September 1939. One girl was chosen from each continental zone to represent the contestants and young people from all over the world. Within hours of arriving in Warsaw, the representatives went to lay flowers at the tomb, and took a moment to contemplate on the significance of today’s anniversary for world peace.

| Old Town Tour / Chopin Concert |

| The historic centre of Warsaw was the first stop on the month-long Miss World tour of Poland, when the contestants went walk-about in the city’s Old Town, on Saturday morning.
Passers-by young and old spontaneously applauded and stopped the girls for photographs and autographs as the party wound through the cobbled streets of the Old Town. The girls posed in front of the Palace, gathered to snap shots of each other alongside the mermaid statue in the ancient town square, and laughed with a barrel organ grinder and troupe of clowns.

| The Warsaw night sky was alight with starbursts and cracking with near-deafening noise as Miss World 2005 Unnur Birna pressed the button to set off a magnificent fireworks display, tonight.
Miss World Organisation Chairman Mrs Julia Morley and Mayor of Warsaw Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz stood alongside Unnur Birna in the official ceremony to launch the month-long festival of Miss World 2006. The Miss World contestants brought their own sparkle to proceedings when they took to the stage before the city’s Congress Hall to witness the spectacle exploding overhead.

| Miss World Opening Gala Warsaw |

| On Sunday, the Miss World contestants were guests of honour at the televised Miss World Opening Gala, attended by Polish VIPs and dignitaries including the president of Warsaw, famous Polish actors and performers, and Mrs Julia Morley Chairman of the Miss World Organisation.
Broadcast live on Polish National Television (TVP), the two-hour TV special celebrated the cultures and beauty of people from around the world, and included some of the finest musical acts Poland has to offer today.

| Miss World Arrives In Gdynia |

| Miss World 2006 contestants continued their tour of Poland with a packed schedule in the Baltic sea resort of Gdynia for the second leg of the Miss World 2006 celebrations. Later this week it will be decided here who can claim the Beachwear trophy and thus fast track to the Miss World finals on 30 September.

| Thousands of people flocked to Gdynia seafront to join Miss World contestants and Mrs Julia Morley, Chairman of the Miss World Organisation, to plant thirty trees under a sunny blue sky, today (Tuesday).
Late afternoon thirty Miss World contestants, acting as ambassadors for their country and the other contestants, came to a designated area on the Bulwar Nadmorski, Gdynia’s main seafront boulevard, to thank the town for its hospitality and leave a lasting memorial to their week-long visit in the Baltic Sea resort.

| Malbork Castle |

| The medieval splendour of Malbork castle in the north west of Poland was the setting for some of the most stunning filming of the tour so far, when the Miss World 2006 contestants visited the UNESCO World Heritage Site today (Wednesday).
The contestants from Asia Pacific walked the ramparts and admired the moat and towers of the castle built on the banks of the river Nogat by the Teutonic Knights in 1274. The girls heard how the historic fortified castle became the seat of the Teutonic Order and was also Europe’s largest Gothic fortress

| Beachwear Final |
|
| Venezuela was the first contestant to achieve a Fast Track to the Miss World 2006 Final, when she won the beachwear competition, today (Thursday).
Crowds gathered along Sopot beach to get a glimpse of the contestants as they walked onto the catwalk one by one dressed in the new Miss World beachwear range, designed by former Miss World Wilnelia Forsyth.

| Childrens Party |

| Together with Miss World 2006 contestants, the reigning Miss World Unnur Birna, hosted an exclusive party for 45 children from the 'It Is Worth Dreaming Foundation'.
As these children, most of them terminally ill, entered the Nadmorski Hotel in Gdynia with their parents or guardians, they were given a very special welcome by 45 Miss World contestants. When all guests had made themselves comfortable, Unnur Birna made her entrance to join the contestants in welcoming the children.
